Every college student wants their university to be a top tier school. Sacred Heart is a young school, but it's quickly taking steps to becoming a gorgeous university with respected programs. With rumors of updated athletic facilities, a pool, a new health center, a parking garage, and purchasing the Jewish Home; I'm really excited for SHU's future. As jealous as I am that I won't get to attend SHU during its "prime years" I'm really proud. The latest sketches of the new College of Business and Education building have leaked onto the internet. It's innovative, beautiful architecture, and state of the art as described by the
Minute Man News…
"
The lowest of the four levels will consist of parking for 138 vehicles and will be out of sight. There will be parking for 72 more vehicles in a parking lot to the northwest of the building.
The second level will consist of classrooms, a library area and a dining area. The third level will have academic offices and classrooms and the fourth level will be primarily faculty offices."
That description would get even Fairfield U students jealous. I truly believe that at this rate my kids will be in shock when I tell them my alma matter.
I am very envious of where the future of SHU is going. I wish we were still in college when all of these new buildings come about. But like you said, although I am envious, I am proud. My children one day are going to see my alma mater and where it stands. The future of SHU is beautiful and I am happy to have been apart of it (even if it's in the growing stages).
ReplyDeleteI'm already jealous that I will only get a few weeks to spend in the new student center, if it ends up opening this year. It's exciting to see where SHU is going. It has so much potential to be a really good university. I hope in the future when I say "I graduated from Sacred Heart University," people will respond with "Oh wow! That's great!" rather than "Oh, where's that?"
ReplyDeleteI don't want to rain on the parade, but to say that some faculty are more dubious. The price of this building is being talked about as $50 million, and some are wondering where we can get that kind of money, whether it's too much debt, whether it needs to be so expensive. I think we need to continue updating the physical plant; I am not informed enough to weigh on the expense, but the concern should be noted.
ReplyDeleteDo you guys like the very mod, glassy look from the drawing? Seems a bit too mod to me.
That's quite the expensive bill. I guess I just assumed that since President Petillo has so much experience with business and finances he'd have everything under control. I just hope that bill wouldn't be pushed along to future student's tuitions! Also, I must say the glassy look is alright, but I appreciate what they're trying to do and keep it similar to the new commons building.
